What to do when your horse throws you off

Hello! The other day my horse Summer threw me off of her! She reared up on her back legs and I just flew off the back of her! This made me nervous and I did get a bit sore. The best thing to do when your horse decides to throw you off of their back is to get right back on and keep riding.

I didn't do this when I was thrown off my horse because (1) I was nervous (2) She didn't really throw me off because she didn't want me on (3) Because I was nervous! hehe Here, Summer didn't really throw me off because she didn't want me on, she more just was afraid because it was a windy day and I hadn't ridden her in a while.

In winter, horses do get very antsy and have a lot of excess energy. They don't get worked much in the winter, and they just want to be able to run around. The best thing to do with your horse in the winter (before you ride) is to just let them go in a bigger arena and run, buck, rear, and get out all of their energy. You would much rather have them do it by themselves than when you are on them!

I just learned this about a week ago, so don't think that I am an expert on this! But, horses just get pretty naughty in winter, so I'm glad that I learned it now than later when I just try to do whatever with my horse. I hope that this benefits you and your horse!!!!!!! :)

  2. Hey!!! :) Yes, she threw me off! I am okay though, I just hurt my back and my tailbone a bit, but it's all better now. I'm not sure what my favorite breed is, I love Clydesdales and Belgians...I love Morgans (that's what my horse is). How are you?
